Playgrounds across the Trust have been transformed into fun, engaging and multi-purpose learning environments.
Children returned after half term to a complete transformation of their playtimes and lunchtimes. They now have access to learning dens, exciting climbing frames, sand pits, water play and much more. “When I first saw the new playground, I was amazed! There is so much to do! I like playing on the climbing frame and reading in the reading shed,” enthused an excited Year 3 pupil who attends Seymour Road Academy.
As a Trust, Wise Owl realises the importance of play as ‘the highest form of research,’- Albert Einstein. Minimising lost learning time and a commitment to allowing children to learn through direct experience are primary reasons behind the decision to allocate such large amounts of money to the projects. Children now look forward to their playtimes and lunchtimes to discover what exciting activities have been organised.
Peter Collopy, Principal of Briscoe Lane Academy said, “Our children work hard and deserve to enjoy their down-time in exciting and challenging environments. Our teams have developed multi-functional areas to ensure progression of skills and challenge for all.”
There are a number of further projects planned across all of the academies to continue the amazing transformations. Keep up to date by following the Trust on Twitter: @wiseowltrust.
