RESPECT Curriculum

Respect of one another; our beliefs, feelings and emotions is pivotal in society and lies at the heart of our Trust.

The acronym RESPECT is the central character trait representing our seven key behaviour traits taught throughout our academies, embodied by our ethos and values. Mutual respect of all academy stakeholders is of the utmost importance to us, encouraging positive mental health and well-being.

Our learning pledge entwines learning of the national curriculum with the seven behaviour traits of the RESPECT acronym in an engaging and exciting way in a bid to equip our children for life beyond the classroom and promote positive mental health.

The foundations of the curriculum construct are built on the seven key values of the Wise Owl Trust.

I can do it

I know how you feel

I understand

I believe in that

I will do my best

I will share with everyone

I will work together with others

These core values will be taught throughout the Academies and applied to all aspects of learning so that Values and Character Education are integral language, philosophy, ethos and action that positively impact on behaviour choices, learning behaviours, community development, tolerance and ultimately citizenship. It is upon these key values that our behaviour policy has been written. Good behaviour is expected and to be treated as the norm, therefore encouraging mutual support and respect. Rewards will be given for academic effort and clear consequences for poor behaviour is communicated with all school stakeholders to ensure a consistent and thorough approach. It is a policy that sits hand-in-hand with the curriculum to encourage and praise the behaviour of an engaged learner.
