About Sophie Murfin
Sophie Murfin was appointed Executive Principal in May 2016 from her previous role as Principal at Seymour Road Academy, which she led from Special Measures to Good with an Outstanding Early Years. Sophie has been a Head Teacher within Manchester since 2012. Sophie has been commissioned to support a number of other schools to improve teaching and learning, and was a finalist in the National Teaching Awards.
Sophie enjoys travelling and visiting new places with her friends and family. Her personal ambition is to travel the world when she retires! Her mantra in life is to collect ‘memories, not things.’
Roles & Responsibilities
- Development of the leadership of academies across the trust, including principal appraisals.
- Lead role in key plans and documents such as the Trust’s long term strategic plan, self-evaluation and school improvement plans of the academies.
- Responsible across the MAT for the key development objectives, the curriculum developments, the ethos and how it can be maintained and to lead the strategic direction of the MAT.
- Responsible for developing the Trust School Improvement Team.
