Innovators, change-makers, educators.

We are Wise Owl.

WORK WITH US

Wise Owl is a small Trust with big ambitions – not just for our schools but for our pupils, families, staff and communities too.

We collaborate, innovate, push education boundaries and share what we have learned. We want to work with the best teachers, researchers, organisations and like-minded schools.

We want to be part of a bigger change in life chances for all.

If that sounds like you – or your school – then get in touch.

let’s work together.

WORKING AT WISE OWL

Our amazing staff go above and beyond to make our academies what they are today. We like to think we are one big family – and families are always there for each other.

We know that teaching can be a stressful business. But it shouldn’t have to be. Which is why we do all we can to lighten teacher workload and increase wellbeing. Not only by creating our own tailor-made curriculum packed with lesson plans and resources but also through a raft of staff benefits.

Our Wise Owl Wellbeing programme is aimed at staff as well as pupils. From mindfulness and meditation to anxiety training, yoga, fitness boot camps and cycle to work schemes, we are here for all our employees, mind, body and soul.

Our ethos is to change culture and that it is ‘ok to not be ok.’ We don’t believe in ‘quick wins’ or gimmicks. We are investing in the long term mental and physical health of all of our team.

We also know that it’s not just our kids that have ambitions. With an open door policy to leadership and a real commitment to staff training and development, we share those ambitions for our staff too.

“We are trying to create a bigger family for the children, community harmony. But also among our staff and our leaders. We go above and beyond for the parents and staff.”

— Sophie Murfin, CEO.

WORKING FOR CHANGE

At Wise Owl we know there’s always more to learn. We like to challenge – and be challenged.

We want to bring the best new research, most interesting ideas and pioneering educational thinking into our academies.

Recent collaborations include working with Professor Farida Vis, Director of the Visual Social Media Lab at Manchester Metropolitan University, to research ways for children to recognise misinformation online. And we are always looking for new organisations to collaborate with.

But we also believe we have got a lot to share. From our innovative curriculum, to our winning formula when it comes to student engagement and school turnaround.

We want to be a voice in the national debate, to help more schools see the changes we have been able to bring, to change the life chances of even more children across the UK.

As a Principal, it’s great being part of Wise Owl Trust – especially when things get tough.

I know there’s a team of two other Heads and Sophie as the Exec Principal who I can call any time. We’ve all got the same ethos and we can work together.

For the staff too, we are part of a bigger team and we are all teaching the same curriculum. We can tap into each other’s strengths for the good of all.

Claire Hall
— Principal, Briscoe Lane Academy

Being part of the Trust was a real selling point to me when I took the job – especially as my first headship.

People say being a Head is like being on an island but not at Wise Owl! I think the whole team environment has enabled me to learn a lot more than if I had been a stand alone Head.

Debbie Frater
— Principal, Seymour Road Academy

Being part of Wise owl Trust means having that support network as a Principal.

If something happens you can pick up the phone and there’s a team there to bounce ideas off. And it’s nice to be able to share ideas with the other Heads too!

I think having that Exec team works really well because there are experts there to work on health and safety and finance which takes some of that additional pressure off.

Hayley Brooker
— Principal, Old Hall Drive Academy
